ReloSale Recommender Systems and Advertising Transparency Notice

Last updated: March 20, 2026

1. General Provisions

This Recommender Systems and Advertising Transparency Notice (hereinafter referred to as the Notice) describes how the ReloSale platform (hereinafter referred to as the Platform, ReloSale) uses algorithmic, statistical, product and editorial mechanisms to generate recommendations, sort, prioritize, select, rank and otherwise order content displayed to users, including listings, search results, collections, "similar listings" blocks, personalized selections, advertising placements, commercial integrations and other interface elements.

The Notice also discloses the Platform's advertising transparency principles: how paid services, commercial placements and advertising integrations may affect content visibility, and how ReloSale informs users about the commercial nature of such placements.

This Notice applies to all users and visitors of the Platform, including private individuals, professional sellers, landlords, buyers, tenants, business account holders, advertisers, agents, agencies and other persons using ReloSale functionality or viewing Platform materials.

The Notice applies in conjunction with the Terms of Use, Privacy Policy, Cookie Notice, Listing Rules, Paid Services Terms and other applicable ReloSale documents.

2. What Is Meant by Recommender Systems

For the purposes of this Notice, recommender systems refer to any algorithmic, statistical, product and/or editorial mechanisms that influence which content a user sees first, in what order and at what positions listings, collections and other materials are displayed, as well as which interface elements are offered to the user during use of the Platform.

In particular, recommender systems include:

  • search results -- the order and composition of listings displayed in response to a user's text or parametric query;
  • relevance sorting -- ordering of search and catalogue results by a combination of factors, rather than solely by date or price;
  • "similar listings" blocks -- selections of listings displayed on individual listing pages or at other interface points;
  • personalized recommendations -- content selections generated based on individual behaviour, interests, browsing history and other data of a specific user;
  • selections by category, geography, interests and behaviour -- thematic and contextual selections generated based on listing attributes, location, language, device, user preferences and other parameters;
  • priority commercial impressions -- placements whose visibility is increased through the use of the Platform's paid services (boosting, highlighting, premium slots, sponsored placements, etc.);
  • anti-spam and quality-adjustment signals -- mechanisms that reduce the visibility of content deemed low-quality, spammy, duplicative, misleading or in violation of Platform rules.

3. Signals That May Be Taken into Account

When generating recommendations, rankings and content display, the Platform may take into account the following signals (factors), both individually and in combination:

  • listing text and attributes -- title, description, characteristics, keywords, tags, product or object parameters;
  • category, subcategory, geography and filters -- catalogue section, object location, search region, user-applied filters;
  • listing freshness -- date and time of publication, update, boosting or last edit;
  • listing completeness and quality -- degree of field completion, description structure, compliance with formatting guidelines;
  • presence of photos and/or video -- number, quality and informativeness of media files attached to the listing;
  • relevance to user query -- degree of match between the listing and the text or parametric query;
  • user behaviour -- views, saves (favourites), responses, hides, search history, browsing history, interactions with listing cards and interface elements;
  • popularity and listing quality metrics -- number of views, responses, saves, engagement metrics, interaction statistics;
  • account reliability -- verification, account age, rule compliance history, positive reputation, professional or business account status;
  • complaints, spam signals and risk factors -- received complaints, signs of violations, suspicious activity, fraud patterns, duplicates, description inaccuracy;
  • use of paid services -- active promotion packages, boosting, highlighting, premium placement, sponsored slots and other commercial tools;
  • language, country, device and technical signals -- interface language, user country, device type, operating system, browser, screen resolution and other technical parameters;
  • seasonality and context -- time of day, day of week, season, current trends and category relevance;
  • other reasonable signals -- any other factors that the Platform may reasonably use to improve search quality, result relevance, safety and user convenience.

The specific set and weight of each signal are determined by the Platform at its own discretion and may vary depending on category, country, query type, user type, interface used and other circumstances.

4. Personalization

The Platform may use data about a specific user's interactions (views, search queries, saves, responses, hides, behavioural history, preferences and other signals) to increase the relevance of displayed content -- that is, to personalize recommendations.

Personalization is aimed at offering the user listings and selections that are more likely to match their interests, needs and context of Platform use.

The Platform may provide users with settings to manage personalization, including the ability to disable personalized recommendations, manage cookies and advertising preferences. The availability and scope of such settings depend on the product, country and current implementation.

Personalization does not guarantee the best result in every individual case. The Platform strives to improve relevance but does not guarantee that personalized results will fully meet user expectations.

5. Non-Personalized Ranking Factors

Even in the absence of personalization or when personalized recommendations are disabled, content display on the Platform is determined by a number of non-personalized factors, including:

  • match between the listing and the user's text or parametric query;
  • user-applied filters (category, price, region, parameters, etc.);
  • region and location -- geographic association of the listing and/or user;
  • interface language and language settings;
  • listing quality -- completeness, presence of photos, description structure;
  • safety and anti-spam -- reduction of visibility for content deemed spammy, suspicious, duplicative or in violation of rules;
  • catalogue product logic -- display rules, section structure, default sorting, set by the Platform's product team.

Thus, even without personalization, the order and composition of displayed content are not random, but are determined by the Platform's algorithmic and product logic.

6. Paid Promotion and Commercial Influence on Visibility

The Platform provides users with paid services that may affect the visibility, position, highlighting and display priority of listings. Such services may include:

  • listing boosting -- re-placement of a listing at top positions in search results;
  • highlighting -- visual highlighting of a listing in the list (by colour, border, icon, etc.);
  • priority display -- elevation of a listing's position in search results and the catalogue;
  • sponsored / promoted -- labelled advertising placements in search results, category pages, recommendation blocks and other interface elements;
  • premium slots -- placement in special interface blocks with increased visibility;
  • business profiles and professional accounts -- extended display, branding and promotion capabilities for commercial users.

Where applicable law requires labelling of commercial or advertising placements, the Platform marks such content with appropriate labels: "advertising", "promoted", "sponsored" or other similar designations.

Use of paid promotion services does not exempt a listing from compliance with Platform rules and does not allow bypassing moderation. The Platform reserves the right to reject, restrict or suspend promotion of a listing that violates the rules, regardless of its paid status.

7. Visibility Limitation and Quality Enforcement

The Platform may reduce visibility, limit impressions or exclude from recommendations listings and accounts that:

  • violate the Terms of Use, Listing Rules or other applicable Platform documents;
  • show signs of spam, duplication, mass publication of similar content or other abuse of Platform functionality;
  • contain misleading information, description inaccuracy, suspicious pricing signals or signs of fraud;
  • are characterized by low quality -- incomplete fields, missing photos, unreadable description, non-compliance with formatting guidelines;
  • have received complaints from other users, negative signals (hides, blocks, rejections) or have been subject to moderation actions;
  • are associated with accounts that have an elevated risk of violations, a history of blocks, suspicious activity or other risk factors.

Visibility limitation may be applied automatically (algorithmically) and/or as a result of moderation actions, alongside other measures provided for by Platform rules (warning, rejection, suspension, removal, account blocking, etc.).

8. What ReloSale Does Not Publicly Disclose

ReloSale is not obligated to and does not publicly disclose the following information related to the Platform's recommender and moderation systems:

  • exact weights, formulas and parameters of ranking and recommendation algorithms;
  • anti-fraud models, threshold values and fraud detection rules;
  • anti-spam thresholds, triggers and spam detection mechanisms;
  • methods for identifying linked accounts, duplicates, mass registrations and other forms of abuse;
  • scoring systems, rating models and internal quality assessment metrics for accounts and listings;
  • other technical details, the disclosure of which could allow third parties to manipulate search results, bypass moderation, abuse algorithms or otherwise harm the Platform and its users.

This limitation is aimed at protecting the integrity, security and fairness of Platform operations and does not constitute a violation of users' rights to information.

9. Advertising Transparency

The Platform may display its own advertising, partner advertising, promoted listings and other commercial placements in various interface elements, including search results, category pages, listing cards, the home page, recommendation blocks, push notifications, email newsletters and other channels.

Commercial placements may differ from organic content by position priority, placement in special blocks, visual design, labelling and/or other characteristics.

Where applicable law requires informing users about the commercial nature of a placement, the Platform marks such materials with appropriate labels or ensures visual differentiation between commercial and organic content.

The user understands that some content displayed on the Platform may have a commercial basis and that the presence of a commercial placement does not constitute endorsement, recommendation or guarantee by ReloSale with respect to the advertised product, service, object or advertiser.

10. Effectiveness Measurement

To assess the effectiveness of recommender systems, advertising placements and Platform functionality, ReloSale may measure and analyze the following metrics:

  • impressions -- the number of times a listing, advertising block or interface element is displayed to users;
  • clicks -- the number of clicks (transitions) on a listing, link, advertising block or interface element;
  • listing card views -- the number of full views of individual listing pages;
  • responses -- the number of contacts, messages, calls and other actions to communicate with the seller or listing author;
  • saves -- adding listings to favourites, watchlists or similar functions;
  • conversions -- completion of target actions (response, enquiry, purchase, paid service subscription, etc.);
  • complaints and hides -- the number of complaints, hides, blocks and other negative signals from users;
  • other metrics -- any other indicators necessary for assessing Platform performance quality, recommendation relevance, advertising effectiveness and user convenience.

Data collection and processing for effectiveness measurement are carried out in accordance with the Privacy Policy, Cookie Notice and applicable user consent settings.

11. User Options and Controls

Depending on the product, country and current implementation, the user may have the ability to:

  • change the sorting of search and catalogue results (by date, price, relevance and other parameters);
  • disable personalized recommendations, if such a setting is available;
  • manage cookies and advertising preferences through the appropriate Platform or browser settings;
  • opt out of receiving marketing emails, push notifications and other advertising communications;
  • request from the Platform information about the main factors determining the generation of recommendations for the given user, to the extent that does not require disclosure of trade secrets, anti-fraud models and other confidential information.

The availability and scope of available settings are determined by the current implementation of the Platform and may vary depending on the product, country, account type and other circumstances. ReloSale strives to expand users' capabilities for managing recommendations and advertising preferences.

12. Changes to This Recommender Notice

ReloSale reserves the right to modify, supplement or update this Notice at any time at its own discretion, including in connection with changes in legislation, introduction of new features, changes to algorithms, expansion of paid services, changes to product logic or for other reasons.

The current version of the Notice is published on the Platform at the corresponding address. The date of last update is indicated at the beginning of the document.

By continuing to use the Platform after changes are made to the Notice, the user confirms their acceptance of the updated version. If the user does not agree with the changes, they have the right to discontinue use of the Platform.
